Social Care in Mid Ulster and the Northern Health & Social Care Trust have faced the first of the Assembly’s cuts. Home helps are to reduce by 30% over the weekend within Mid Ulster.
This means that for the weekend period the Trust have instructed staff to reduce the hours of home care packages for those who are being supported to live in their homes.
In a leaked letter from the Trust it specifically states as from the 27th April 2010 and suggests that the reduction of weekend home help cover for those being supported to live at home will “pay off”.
The already overstretched social care nurses & social workers have already faced an array of reductions in staff and working hours, this preventative health cut must not be allowed to continue and Save The Mid will be calling for the Health Budget to be renegotiated and an immediate fundamental review of Health & Social Care.
