The deliberate run-down of the Mid Ulster Hospital has been highlighted by Save The Mid ever since.
Although a day of dark significance it is a testament to everyone that for the year Save The Mid has stood steadfast in fighting for our Hospital.
Since the removal of A&E at Mid Ulster we have seen the worst recorded waiting times in A&E's in Northern Ireland's history, Ambulance response times for Mid Ulster are ever failing and for periods non existent.
Those who made these decisions will be made accountable for the pain and suffering that they have caused to residents in mid Ulster and by extension Northern Ireland as a series of wrongful decisions have put the entire population of Northern Ireland at risk.
Further attempts by Health Chiefs to turn Mid Ulster Hospital into a health centre will see out-patient list sore further, elderly and the vulnerable left alone in their homes, child protection will be watered down.
This is not the future that we as tax payers in Mid Ulster have paid for, capacity cannot meet demand in the current configuration of health in Northern Ireland. The reopening of the Mid Ulster is the only viable option and one which the new Assembly must now take steps towards making a reality .
