While the focus on A&E's seems to direct itself on those patients who are waiting over 12 hours, there are also worrying trends that more people than ever are waiting over 4 hours for treatment. Albeit these patients are not waiting 12 hours plus they are waiting between 4-12 hours, the exact breakdown is not released by the DHSSPS. Save The Mid feel that the 4-12 hour bracket is to large an interval for statistical analysis and the DHSSPS should show more detailed performance reports. These figures are based on the first quarter of each year since 2008. Patients seen in under 4 hours has dropped 18% since 2008 Patients seen in 4-12 hours has increased 228% since 2008
