Belfast Health & Social Care Trust Spend Over £290 million Purchasing Private Health Care Between 2011/13
In a Freedom Of Information gained by Save The Mid, it shows that between 2009/12 the Belfast Heath & Social Care Trust spent over £67,000,000 sending patients to private health providers for out patients, daycare and inpatient procedures.
Under the previous health minster Micheal Mc Gimpsey in 2010 there was a move to have less of a reliance on the private sector, according to figures in the FOI there was a decrease in the use of the private sector. link
Under thew current health Minister Edwin Poots, we have seen over a 3005 increase in the amount of Day case/Inpatient cases sent to the private sector alone.
