If Health Minister Edwin Poots was serious about respecting the needs of older people in Northern Ireland to live and spend their day in a place where they wish he would immediately allow the statutory residential homes to admit older people who are being turned away.
Northern Health Trust Adopts Regional Position To Stop Admission To Westlands Residential Home5/22/2013 Despite claims from the public that they have been turned down by the Northern Health & Social Care Trust to get admitted as a resident to Westlands residential home, the trust state that there is a diminishing demand. Despite this claim it is apparent that the Northern Trust does and will not admit long stay residents to any of its residential homes, regardless if there is a demand for services or not.
