£10 million has been allocated for elective care waiting lists, how much of this will be spent on subcontracting in the Independent Service is unknown. Already the Northern Health & Social Care Trust have moved 1,000's of patients into the independent sector and as of yet have not disclosed how much this has cost the tax payer. No indication as such has been given that any public health services will actually be extended on a full time basis to deal with patients every year. This is fire-walling by the Health Minister in that it may help fix the problem this year but will not for the future.
The remaining £14.2 million will be spent on capital expenditure, partly at Antrim Area hospital, why exactly it needs more money is unclear as the Northern Health & Social Care Trust have already allocated their capital expenditure for the year for the improvement for Antrim Hopsital.
For the year 2012/13 The Northern Health & Social Care Trust Current backlog of Firecode Works is £1,569,544.00 with a planned completion date of 2014/15 (funding dependent) when all NHSCT owned buildings shall be compliant with current statutory fire safety regulations and the DHSSPS(NI) Firecode suite of
documents.
The 2011/12 proposed programme of Firecode Works equated to a value of £515,764.00 However only £127,037.00 was approved due to available funding which may affect 9 year NIFRS programme. The 2012/13 proposed programme of Firecode Works equates to £463,148.00 subject to funding being available. This will be completed with the £500,000.00 funding approved which includes the external design consultant fees.
It can only hope that all buildings within the Trust are firecoded in the year 2012/13 with this extra available funding.
